Stayed here this weekend. Had a pretty awful experience with the new owner/manager Catherine. This was our 2nd summer in a row staying here. Rooms were disgustingly dirty, showers had clumps of hair in the drains and doors were kicked in and without door handles.
Perfect for a girl's weekend or couple get away. Not a family friendly resort. But the location can't be beat. Clean, updated cabins.
This place has really gone downhill. Cabins were dirty, some doors didn't have handles or were missing parts, hair clogged in the showers and at the end we were hit with random extra fees. Don't let the pre booking invoice fool you on price... we paid almost $600 extra at check out with random service charges and taxes. I would check other resorts in the area before staying here. Sad to see what use to be a nice resort go in the dumps. Poor management.
My brother and his fiancé got married here last night and the whole experience when it comes to the workers, management, and facility in general was a disaster. They are under new management and it's terrible. The whole time while trying to plan the wedding and work out details there was no one to get a hold of. My sister-in-law had to call the property's realtor in California to get a hold of anyone. When we arrived Saturday morning all the chairs and tables in the event center were supposed to be set up and ready for us to decorate. They were not, we had to set them up ourselves. The rehearsal dinner was a BBQ because they said they had a gas grill we could use. Thank God we called the day before to confirm because they didn't and we had to bring our own. The morning of the wedding all the chairs were supposed to be set up for the ceremony by 8am. They still weren't set up by noon so our family had to help load and set 200 chairs up and they would not refund our money they charged for set up. They were supposed to have an eight person golf cart to shuttle people from the parking lot to the ceremony which did not work and they told us once we got there that it hadn't been working (so you would think they would have made other arrangements ahead of time knowing this). Our step father had to shuttle people back and forth. They didn't charge us for the golf cart but would not take anything off what we had already paid for using our own vehicles and gas and family members to shuttle people. We were told we would be charged extra if we stained any towels or sheets with makeup or spray tans but towels provided (which weren't very many and they wouldn't give us more) were stained. There were 2 ppl working the entire event. Any time we asked for anything we got attitude and the same excuse of not having staff. When we went to talk to them about getting refunded some of our money due to basically setting up everything ourselves and nothing working the lady just gave us attitude, was very rude, and would not refund any of our money. If it hadn't been for amazing family and friends and a beautiful day my poor brother and his new bride would have literally had the worse wedding day ever! It's so sad how horribly managed this place is now because it's so beautiful! It's honestly a joke. The cabins and lake are beautiful but I would NOT recommend getting married there or having any kind of event! Don't let the many good reviews fool you. Look at the dates. Those good reviews are from when it was under different management! Beware of new management and what the facility has turned into!!
We were treated disrespectfully and were without towels and blankets. Windows leaked when raining. I recommend you spend you're hard earned money elsewhere and not stay at this garbage resort. WE WILL NEVER BE BACK.
